Overview of the Farmer Producer Company
The Companies Act, 2013, established the Producer Company in India. It allows those who are involved in creating (what has been grown or produced, typically through farming) to create a firm. A farmer producer business can be founded by 10 or more producers (those participating in, or engaged in, produce or growth activities), two or more producer institutions, or a combination of 10 or more producers and producer institutions. A corporation of this type can only have equity capital, a minimum of five directors, and an authorized capital of 5 lakh. The formation of a Farmer Producer firm is identical to that of a private limited company.
